About Us
In a majority of cases, globalization has resulted in increased marginalization for workers and their families in developing countries. The liberalization and opening up of markets has created wealth for some and contributed to the growth of inequalities both between and within countries. The poor, both in urban and rural areas in developing countries have been particularly affected. The rights of workers in developing countries are steadily deteriorating. There is also an increase in size of the unorganized informal sector, which is impacting mainly on women and young people. It is because these reasons that the public debate about globalization is being framed in negative terms. This problem has been exacerbated by a lack of information, a lack of influence and participation in the political and economic issues surrounding globalization and by a lack of capacity and financial resources of regional networks of NGOs and trade unions to engage in these issues.
